Bananas

Kiva actually used the potty last night!!! She was very pleased with herself and of course I screamed and went bananas, she thought that was a riot. So, she's making the connection….very exciting! [Vanessa]

Tank You

I took Kiva with me to Raley's. We walked down to Noah's and Kiva got a blueberry bagel. Kiva really really likes Noah's bagels, either the blueberry or the raisin. She was the darling of the store workers and customers by time she left. Effortless charmer with her "hi" "tank you" and "bye bye". Back to Raley's where she got a mini pumpkin that she just looooooves. When we checked out the clerk gave her a little tiny plastic bag to carry it in and she was so proud walking out of the store with her groceries. Kiva said "tank you" to the clerk too. I swear twenty people in Raley's told me how beautiful and well behaved she is. I said of course "ya think? I hadn't noticed." :-) Well not really. [Joan]

'Mo Cheese Please

I bought some american reduced fat cheese and on the way home gave Kiva a piece which she liked a lot. I was eating one too, and she asked for "mo". I told her that when she was done she could have more. A couple of minutes later there was no cheese in her hand and she was asking for more, so I gave her the rest of mine. She ate that then pulled the rest of her piece out from where she had stashed it and proceeded to eat with perfect equanimity. Darn, I think she aced me out of my piece of cheese! Think it was deliberate? I was laughing out loud in the car when I realized that she had conned me...too funny. She looked so innocent and unconcerned too, with just a SLIGHT tinge of triumph. Little Monkey Uses Tools

One thing Kiva has been doing lately that is too cute. When she is shown how something works, she makes this surprised little laugh that is very funny. She is quite tickled at toys that move or gizmos she can open and shut. Ken has shown her how to use screwdrivers and she loves to stand in the shop and use a screwdriver on the screws that are holding some of his tool stands togeather. She can't turn any of the screws, but is very very intent on getting the screwdriver just so in the slot. [Joan]

Miss America

Your darling Kiva is excellent, had a fun morning and then after nap and lunch went to costco to do party shopping. she was a riot in the store. Ken and I always take separate carts and split up for shopping. I had Kiva in my cart, and about half way through she decided she wanted bompa and started yelling his name. He heard her clear accross the store. When we checked out she very kindly said bye bye to all of the clerks and customers, along with the miss america hand wave. [Joan]

The Hazmat Team

Too funny this morning...very helpful and caring. When she came into the living room, she got the water bottle off the side table, very solemnly offered a drink first to granpa then to me, then had one herself. Then she went after granpa's coffee - that is a "do not share" thing.

Then pushing the buttons on her music book she wanted to dance with each of us in turn. joyful and happy with herself and the world.

Made her french toast this morning for the first time. She liked it a lot, and got very very precise with sticking her baby fork into a small piece of french toast, then carefully dipping it into the little bowl of maple syrup I put next to her plate, then into her mouth. Kiva now announces when she is done eating, by pulling her bib off and saying "all done". If I don't get the message, she will still take another bite, but then spits it out while looking me in the eye.

After breakfast we watched one of the baby einstein videos, and promptly at 9am, Kiva laid her head on my knee. I asked her if she wanted her bottle, she took me by the hand and lead me into the kitchen. Fixed her bottle, and into bed and off to sleep. She is just waking up, I hear her stirring, probably taking care of "business" before she calls the hazmat team. [Joan]

That is not a leaf

I found the mermaid swimsuit too, seems that I had two swimsuits after all. We went into the pool again after lunch, and I guess next time I WILL put a swim diaper on her. Kiva pooped in the pool (thank goodness it was after we had played for a while so she didn't yell about getting out), so it is being drained and sanitized, and ok ok ok I'll put a swim diaper on her. She was very funny about it. I didn't notice right off, but she kept pointing and saying "no, no" until I realized that was not a leaf lying in the bottom of the pool. [Joan]

Sheep Sheep

Ken has a new sheepskin to lie on for streching, which Kiva loves. She went into his room and hugged it until I put it on the floor, then she laid down on it. Then she went into my room and pointed at my sheepskin saying "sheep" sheep", as she knew it was the same thing. She carefully got her big fuzzy bunny from my room and carried into Ken's room to the better sheepskin, went back for her music picture book. Then carefully arranged herself, her bunny and her book on the best sheepskin to relax with some nice music and her bunny friend. Too funny. When I sat down on the floor next to her, she backed into my lap, still keeping her feet on the sheepskin and her grip on the bunny. then we listened to music for a while and sang along. What a precious time! [Joan]

Duh, Grammie

We were in my room just now and Kiva was crawling around playing quietly with some toys, then she laid down on the sheepskin on the floor for a minute, finally crawled over in front of me, laid on her back, arms and legs spread out and LOOKED at me, like "duh, can I give you any clearer hint grammie?" So she is tucked in her crib with her blanky and binky, will see if she really sleeps or just takes a time out. [Joan]

Bombs Away

Did Jim tell you about the bath poop yesterday? Kiva was looking thoughtful and grabbed my hand and stood up, immediately assumed the classic position and bombs away. I don't know who was more surpirsed, her or me. [Joan]
